Dr. Isabel Mira-Avendano, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Respiratory Institute at Clevelnd Clinic Abu Dhabi. Dr. Isabel is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, she worked at Mayo Clinic and University of Texas in Houston, US, as an Associate Professor in Medicine in the departments of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. She worked alongside the Rheumatology Department and was the co-director of the Interstitial Lung Disease and Rheumatology-Pulmonary program, in both institutions.

Dr. Isabel completed Internal Medicine residence at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, US and her fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at Cleveland Clinic, main campus. During her fellowship, she received special training on interstitial lung disease and pulmonary hypertension, areas in which she has been focused throughout her career.

She has mentored multiple trainees, including medical students, internal medicine residents and pulmonary and critical care fellows.

Dr. Mira has many peer-reviewed publications, mostly in the areas of interstitial lung disease and pulmonary hypertension, and has been the author of many Chapter books. She is an active member of the American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST), American Thoracic Society (ATS), Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and European Respiratory Society (ERS) and has presented at multiple national and internationals meetings.

Workshop 1:
Interventional Pulmonology

Dr. Ali Saeed Wahla, is a Staff Physician in the Respiratory Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

At Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Wahla is the director of the bronchoscopy suite and one of the Interventional pulmonologists. He specializes in advanced pulmonary procedures focused on complex airway and pleural disorders.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Wahla worked in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan as a Consultant.

He received his medical degree from the Aga Khan University in Pakistan and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, North Carolina, USA, where he also completed his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and Interventional Pulmonology.
