J .Christian Virchow, MD, FRCP, FCCP, FAAAAI, is a Professor of Medicine and Pneumology and Head of the Clinic of Pneumology, Allergology and Intensive Care Medicine in the University Medical Clinic at the University of Rostock, Germany. He is also the Medical Director of the Pulmonary Diagnostic Services and the Sleep Laboratory of the University of Rostock. He served as Editor-in-Chief of RESPIRATORY MEDICINE and is a Visiting Professor of the China-Japan-friendship hospital in Beijing, PR China. He is a member of several medical organizations, including the American Thoracic Society, the European Respiratory Society, and the American College of Chest Physicians. Dr. Virchow serves as Associate Editor for Allergy and several German journals in pulmonology and allergology and has served as an ad hoc reviewer for Chest, the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology, the European Respiratory Journal and many others. He is the author or coauthor of more than 290 peer reviewed articles for journals such as JAMA, the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Chest, and European Respiratory Journal and author of several chapters for text books. He received his doctoral degree from the University of Tübingen, Germany after attending Medical School in Marburg and Giessen, Germany and Zürich, Switzerland. Dr. Virchow completed his residency in internal medicine at University Medical Clinic in Freiburg, Germany, and his fellowship in pulmonary medicine at the Department of Pneumology at the University of Freiburg, Germany under Prof. H. Matthys. His special interests are research into the mechanisms of inflammation in chronic obstructive lung diseases such as asthma and COPD as well as the treatment of these conditions.

Omar Usmani MB BS, PhD, FHEA, FRCP FERS, is Professor of Respiratory Medicine and Consultant Physician at the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI), Imperial College London (ICL), Royal Brompton Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital London.  

He is an International Authority on Aerosol Science and Inhalation Medicine whose research has fundamentally changed the understanding of therapeutic aerosol deposition and clinical effectiveness in inhaled drug delivery to the lungs.  

He received the 2005 NHLI Imperial College PhD Prize for the Best Thesis. In 2015, he was awarded the Thomas T Mercer Award recognising his International Research Excellence in Pharmaceutical Aerosols and Inhalable Materials. In 2019, he was awarded Fellowship of the European Respiratory Society (FERS).  

He is the ERS Science Council Chair and current Past-President of the International Society of Aerosols in Medicine (ISAM).

Professor Hayden McRobbie is Professor of Population Health at Queen Mary University of London and a public health physician with nearly three decades of experience across clinical practice, academia, and senior public service in the UK, New Zealand, and Australia. His research focuses on tobacco dependence, harm reduction, and obesity, spanning clinical trials of pharmacological and behavioural interventions and emerging nicotine products. He has published extensively, informing clinical practice and policy at national and international levels, and has served as a subject matter expert in tobacco control for the New Zealand Ministry of Health and in engagements with the WHO.

Paolo Spagnolo is a Full Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of Padua and Head of the Respiratory Unit at the University Hospital of Padova, (Italy). He received his undergraduate training and his MD and completed his residency in Respiratory Medicine at the University Hospital of Bari (Italy). In 2002, Dr Spagnolo joined the ILD Unit of the Royal Brompton Hospital (London), initially as clinical research fellow and subsequently as Honorary Consultant. In 2008, he completed his PhD at the Imperial College of London with a thesis on “Genetic predisposition to clinical phenotypes of sarcoidosis”. Between 2008 and 2013, he was a research fellow and subsequently Assistant Professor in Respiratory Medicine at the University Hospital of Modena. Since 2015, Dr Spagnolo is a Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the Department of Cardiac, Thoracic, Vascular Sciences and Public Health of the University Hospital of Padua (Italy). His main research interests include ILD, mainly sarcoidosis and IPF/PPF with emphasis on genetic predisposition, prediction of disease behaviour and clinical trials of novel therapies. Dr Spagnolo is the author or co-author of over 200 journal articles, review articles and editorials. He is the Editor in chief of Sarcoidosis Vasculitis and Diffuse Lung Diseases (SVDLD) and the Treasurer of the WASOG (World Association of Sarcoidosis and Other Granulomatous diseases).

Senior Consultant in Pulmonology at Royal Hospital, Oman. Former Head of The Department of Respiratory Medicine. Former Chairman of Internal Medicine Program: Oman Medical Specificalry Board (OMSB), Local Advisor for Royal College of Edinburgh in Oman and Former President of Oman Respiratory Society; Received his MBBS in King Faisal University, KS, and earned his Master's Degree in Pulmonary Hypertension from University of Bologna, Italy. He has been very active in international conferences and has a number of published articles to his name.

Dr. Saif Al Mubaihsi is a Senior Consultant Pulmonologist with extensive clinical, academic, and administrative expertise. He graduated at the top of his class with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Sultan Qaboos University (SQU). He completed residency training in Core Internal Medicine and Adult Respiratory Medicine at the University of Toronto, achieving the Fellowships of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCP) in both disciplines. 

Currently serving as Senior Consultant Pulmonologist and Head of the Pulmonology Unit at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital with interest in asthma and chronic airway diseases. He is  also an active educator, contributing to Oman’s medical community through his work with the Oman Medical Specialty Board and as a speaker at national and international conferences. 

He co-authored several publications in leading medical journals, addressing diverse topics like sarcoidosis, asthma, COVID-19 management, and pulmonary embolism. Beyond his medical contributions, He is also a committed leader, chairing several committees focused on clinical service delivery and education.

Prof. Mohammed Al Ghobain is currently a Professor at the College of Medicine, KSAU-HS and a Consultant Pulmonologist at King Abdulaziz Medical City, MNGHA. He is also an Associate Editor at Annals of Thoracic Medicine. His field of interest includes Asthma, COPD and Epidemiology of Respiratory diseases. He has also taken part in over 80 research publications and has given more than 140 presentations at different medical conferences locally and globally. He is founder member of Saudi initiative for asthma group, chair of Saudi COPD group and chair of Saudi guidelines for vaccinations in adult patients with chronic respiratory diseases.

Professor Argyrios Tzouvelekis is Professor of Internal and Respiratory Medicine and Head of the Department of Respiratory Medicine at the University Hospital of Patras, Greece, and Associate Professor Adjunct at Yale School of Medicine, USA. He is a specialist in respiratory medicine with extensive expertise in interstitial lung diseases, pulmonary fibrosis, and lung cancer. His research focuses on the mechanisms and treatment of pulmonary fibrosis, with particular interest in hypoxia, phosphatases, thyroid hormone signaling, and novel therapeutic approaches. Professor Tzouvelekis has authored over 270 peer-reviewed publications, with more than 8,000 citations and an H-index of 49. He is an active member of leading international respiratory societies.

Dr. Fatma Al Huraish is a Consultant in Pulmonology, Allergy, and Clinical Immunology, currently serving as the Head of the Pulmonary Unit and the Scientific Committee at Sabah Hospital. She also leads the Clinical Committee addressing the impact of climate and environmental changes on health. Dr. Al Huraish completed fellowships in Pulmonary Medicine (Vancouver, BC), Allergy & Clinical Immunology (McGill University, Montreal), and Clinical Research (Meckins & Christie Lab, Montreal). She is the principal investigator of the KOLD Study, one of Kuwait’s largest research projects on COPD, and has multiple publications in respiratory and allergy medicine. A member of the GLOBAL Bridge initiative for tobacco dependence treatment, her career goal is to drive innovation in pulmonary and allergic disease care, with a strong focus on climate change adaptation and advancing research in these critical fields.

Dr. Yasser Madani is a UK-Board Certified Physician in Pulmonology and Internal Medicine. He is a Consultant Pulmonologist at Healthpoint Hospital, Mubadala Health, Abu Dhabi. He trained in London working across various university teaching and tertiary hospitals such as Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals. He is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK). He held the position of Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Brunel Medical School in London. 

Dr. Muhammad Tufail is a Consultant Pulmonologist at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), Abu Dhabi, with over 19 years of experience in the field. He gained his CCT in Respiratory and Internal Medicine from London and completed an Interventional Pulmonology fellowship at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester, where he worked as a Consultant Pulmonologist for six years before moving to Abu Dhabi in 2022.

He was the lead for lung cancer and was nominated for three national awards for improving the quality of services. He also served as a member of the British Thoracic Society Council and its Education & Training Committee.

Dr. Bassam Mahboub is consultant pulmonologist and  the head of pulmonary medicine unit.  Served as program director for care model innovation in DHA from 2016 to 2018.  American Board certified in Internal Medicine,  Pulmonology, and Allergy and Clinical Immunology, also has a Masters in Business Administration  from Wolverhampton University. 
Career goal is health innovation and respiratory care, leadership in academic and clinical sciences.  Areas of interest are patient care, clinical teaching, translation research in airway diseases, and health innovation. Co-editor for Annals of Thoracic Medicine.  He has authored several books in respiratory medicine and co-editor for several medical journals.

Dr. Mahmoud M. Elkaissi is an American Board-certified Consultant Radiologist with extensive clinical and academic experience. He holds American Board of Radiology certifications in Diagnostic Radiology and Pediatric Radiology, with advanced fellowship training in Diagnostic Neuroradiology, Pediatric Radiology, Body Imaging, and Thoracic Imaging at leading U.S. institutions. His clinical expertise includes thoracic, neuroradiology, and musculoskeletal imaging within multidisciplinary tertiary care. He has served as Associate Professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and held leadership roles in high-resolution chest CT and lung cancer conferences. Dr. Elkaissi is also an accomplished educator, researcher, and international speaker, with numerous peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Mateen Uzbeck, is a Consultant Physician in the Respiratory Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and Clinical Assistant Professor at The Lerner College of Medicine in Ohio USA. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Uzbeck worked as a Consultant within the Health Service Executive Ireland. He has a wide experience in managing pulmonary diseases and a special interest in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for benign and malignant diseases of the lung and pleura, including Therapeutic Bronchoscopy, Endobronchial Ultrasound, Electromagnetic Navigation Bronchoscopy, Pleuroscopy and Bronchial Thermoplasty.

Dr. Uzbeck completed his postgraduate specialist training in Ireland and was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine by the Irish Committee for Higher Medical Training. He also obtained a Fellowship in Interventional Pulmonology from the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, rated as one of the top cancer centers in the US.

Dr. Mohammed Harriss is a distinguished Consultant Pulmonologist at Medcare Hospital Sharjah and Medcare Royal Hospital Dubai with over two decades of expertise in respiratory and critical care medicine. He earned his MBBS and MD from Calicut Medical College and holds prestigious qualifications including MRCP (UK), EDIC, EDRM, and an MSc in Sleep Medicine from University of Oxford. Dr. Harriss is affiliated with leading international medical societies and specializes in allergy and asthma management, pulmonary critical care, and the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related respiratory disorders.

Dr. Saniya Khan, MD, is a Staff Physician at the Respiratory Institute, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Previously, she served as an Academic Assistant Professor and Consultant in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Michigan State University and its affiliated hospitals in the United States. She has extensive experience in medical education, curriculum development, teaching, and mentoring, and has served as an ACLS instructor and pulmonary clerkship supervisor. Dr. Khan practices general pulmonary and critical care medicine, with special interests in advanced lung diseases, including interstitial, connective tissue, and granulomatous lung diseases. She also contributes to quality improvement initiatives in critical care.

Dr. Rachel Kaminski, a graduate of medicine, Imperial College London, 2006. She holds a respiratory BSC from the Royal Brompton Hospital.
Dr. Kaminski, became a Respiratory Consultant in 2018 at Gloucestershire NHS Foundation Trust & was the Educational Lead of the department, lead for transitional care paediatrics and ran the severe asthma and bronchiectasis services. Since moving to Dubai in July, she has taken up the role of pulmonologist at Saudi-German Hospital and is already recognized as a Severe Asthma Expert handling complex cases and advising appropriate patients to biologics.

Dr. Amal Al-Ameeri is a distinguished Consultant Pulmonologist at Tawam Hospital, renowned for her expertise in cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis. With an impressive array of credentials, including membership in the European Cystic Fibrosis Society and the European Respiratory Society. Dr. Amal has dedicated her career to advancing respiratory medicine. Dr. Amal's journey in medicine began at the University of Sharjah, where she earned her medical degree. Following this, she completed her residency in internal medicine at Tawam Hospital, solidifying her foundational skills and knowledge. Driven by a passion for respiratory health, she pursued a clinical fellowship in general respiratory medicine at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. She then received specialized training in cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis, areas in which she has since made significant contributions. She is a member of Advance CF group in ECSF 2024. Dr. Emad Dawoud, a Consultant Medical Oncologist and Chief of Medical Oncology at Tawam Hospital in the United Arab Emirates, has a distinguished medical career spanning over two decades. Dr. Dawoud completed his medical degree (MD) and PhD in clinical oncology in 2010. He further solidified his expertise in the field by becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom in medical oncology in 2012 and obtaining a Master’s degree in clinical oncology in 2003. Dr. Dawoud’s academic journey began at Al Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt, where he graduated in 1997, and has been appointed as lecturer of clinical oncology in 2010. Throughout his career, Dr. Dawoud has been involved in numerous clinical trials, serving as a principal investigator or co-investigator in over 50 clinical trials and over 100 publications. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and he has been a member of various esteemed associations, including (ASCO), (ESMO), and (ESTRO).

Dr. Husain Alawadhi a graduate of the Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain, transitioned to the United States, completing his Internal Medicine residency at Wayne State University. He pursued a fellowship in Pulmonary/Critical Care, achieving American Board certification. With a focus on lung infections and ICU care, he furthered his expertise with a fellowship in Infectious Disease, gaining dual board certification. From 2009 to 2020, he led the Intensive Care Unit at Mafarq Hospital. During the pandemic, he served as the Medical Director of the COVID field hospital in Ajman. Currently, a consultant in Infectious Disease, he explores interests in climate change and participates in various local and international meeting.

Dr. Jehad Abdalla is an Infectious Diseases Consultant at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), Abu Dhabi, UAE. He serves as Chair of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) Committee at SEHA and is a member of the expert panel and strategic planning team for tuberculosis at the Abu Dhabi Health Authority. Dr. Abdalla is American Board–certified in Infectious Diseases. His research and teaching interests focus on viral and fungal infections, tuberculosis, multidrug-resistant organisms, and the prevention of healthcare-associated infections.

Dr. Nadia AlSayed Waheed is a Specialist Pediatric Pulmonologist at Al Jalila Children’s Hospital, Dubai. She graduated with honors from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and completed her internship and residency at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Abu Dhabi, an ACGME-accredited program. Dr. AlSayed holds the Arab Board certification in Pediatrics and completed a two-year fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. She also earned the HERMES Diploma in Respiratory Medicine from the European Respiratory Society. Her clinical expertise spans complex respiratory disorders in children, with a strong commitment to advancing pediatric pulmonary care. 

Dr. Sarim Ather is the AI lead for SEHA Radiology Vertical and Chief of Diagnostic Radiology for the Al Ain region. He has extensive experience of evaluating and deploying medical imaging AI technologies including for Chest X-rays and Chest CTs. Prior to joining SEHA, Dr Ather was a part of the UK Royal College of Radiologists AI Advisory group and setup the Oxford Clinical AI Research Group.

Dr.Shaikha Aleissaee is a Consultant Pulmonologist at Sheikha Tahnoon Medical City and Tawam hospital in Al ain. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency training at Tawam hospital followed by fellowship training in Pulmonary Medicine in Ireland. She is actively involved in diagnosis and management of complex respiratory diseases. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr.Shaikha is involved in residency training and medical education with commitment to improve postgraduate medical education and patient care. 

Dr. Al Khouri obtained Bachelor of Health Sciences from Dubai Medical College, in May 2011. Following her medical education, Dr. Alkhouri completed a Pediatric Residency Program at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Hospital in Aug 2016 and obtained Arab Board in Pediatrics in 2017. Further enhancing her expertise, Dr. Al Alkhouri completed Pediatric Respiratory Fellowship at University of Toronto / The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada between Sept 2021 - January 2024. Dr. Al Khouri is working as a Pediatric Pulmonology Consultant at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City from March 2024 until present.

Dr. Sofia Konstantinopoulou is a triple US board-certified pediatric pulmonologist and sleep medicine physician. She completed her pediatric residency at Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center, serving as chief resident and ranking in the top 10th percentile on US and Canadian in-training examinations for three consecutive years. She pursued fellowship training in pediatric pulmonology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she received an American Thoracic Society scholarship to attend the Fellows ATS Symposium. Recognized for extraordinary ability, she was granted an O-1 visa and served as an attending physician in Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine at CHOP, with a faculty appointment at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. For the past decade, she has practiced at Sheikh Khalifa Medical Center in Abu Dhabi, focusing on medically complex children, and holds academic and professional leadership roles.

Aaron Smith, RRT, MBA is a Lead Respiratory Therapist at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi with nearly two decades of experience in advanced critical‑care environments, including Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Georgetown University Hospital, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital. His expertise includes mechanical ventilation, airway management, clinical education, and quality improvement. He has led multidisciplinary initiatives to improve ventilator management practices, strengthen clinical documentation automation, and facilitate research initiatives within the region. Mr. Smith earned his MBA from Abu Dhabi University and is dedicated to advancing evidence‑based respiratory care, innovation, and professional collaboration across the UAE and the wider region.

Dr. Ahmed Sherif is a Consultant Radiologist and Section Head of Cardiothoracic Imaging at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, where I also serves as Residency Program Director.
I’m a fellowship-trained in Cardiothoracic Imaging from the University of South Florida (USF). Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, I served as an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of South Florida / Tampa General Hospital, USA.
I hold three American Board certifications, the European Diploma in Radiology (EDiR), and the Arab Board certification in Radiology. I’m also a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR), United Kingdom.

Dr. Ali Saeed Wahla, is a Staff Physician in the Respiratory Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
At Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Wahla is the director of the bronchoscopy suite and one of the Interventional pulmonologists. He specializes in advanced pulmonary procedures focused on complex airway and pleural disorders.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Wahla worked in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan as a Consultant. 
He received his medical degree from the Aga Khan University in Pakistan and  completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, North Carolina, USA, where he also completed his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and Interventional Pulmonology.

Mr. Niyas Parappurath is a Senior Respiratory Therapist at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi with over 18 years of experience in respiratory care and cardiopulmonary diagnostics. His clinical practice focuses on pulmonary function testing, cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), exercise laryngoscopy, sleep medicine, and pulmonary rehabilitation. He is involved in the assessment of patients with unexplained dyspnea, exercise intolerance, complex airway disorders, lung transplant evaluation, heart failure, and sleep-disordered breathing. Niyas completed specialized CPET training at UCLA and is actively engaged in clinical education and research. He has authored peer-reviewed publications, including ERS abstracts, and presented at international scientific conferences.

Dr. Mohammed Alqadri is an Internal Medicine Specialist and Pulmonary Fellow with extensive experience in critical care and ICU management. Currently
advancing clinical expertise in pulmonary medicine within a tertiary-care setting, with experience in flexible bronchoscopy, respiratory disease management, mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, and ultrasound-guided ICU procedures. Experienced in multidisciplinary inpatient care and rapid response team practice.

Dr. Said Isse, MBBS, is a Staff Physician in the Respiratory Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. 

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Isse served as a Consultant Pulmonologist in King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where he specialized in lung transplantation and cystic fibrosis. 

Dr. Isse received his medical degree from the UCL Medical School, London, UK. He completed his residency and fellowship research at the Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, UK. He then completed his MRCP at the Royal College of Physicians, London, and holds a certificate of completion of specialist training (CCT) from the UK.
